Remote Workers

More than 17 million people in North America are self-employed. Still more are remote employees who have the option of working from home either part-time or full-time.

Here are 5 key issues employers and home-based or self-employed workers should keep in mind:

  1. Remote employees need to check the extent of their insurance protection with their company
  2. Employers with remote employees should make sure to inform their business insurance provider they have remote employees
  3. If employees store data about other people or businesses in your home, you may be vulnerable to hacking or other security breaches
  4. Personal autos may or may not be covered for business use
  5. Loss of income due to injury or illness for home-based works can present long-term problems

It’s estimated around 60% of home-based workers are inadequately insured for some or all of these risks. If you think you or one of your employees could fall into that category, don’t hesitate to give us a call: 844-631-4901
